VECTOR At March 5 BARC Swap Meet

Posted

VECTOR will host a table once again at the annual Burnaby Amateur Radio Club Swap Meet. This extremely popular event provides local radio amateurs the opportunity to buy and sell equipment and is a significant fund raising activity for our organization.

Volunteers Needed:

VECTOR will reimburse the $6 entry fee for members attending to help with any of: transporting goods & setup, running the table, or tear down.

  • Before the event: equipment and materials stored in our large shipping container (behind the Emergency Operations Centre) need to be sorted through.
  • Day of the event: transporting items to be sold typically requires at least one or two pickup trucks, vans or SUVs; set-up at the venue starts at 0830H; doors open to the public at 1000H. Two VECTOR members will staff the table; typically we have another member on hand to allow for breaks.
  • Tear down: We have a good track record of selling off the vast majority of what we bring but there is always something left that needs carting back to the EOC or recycling.

VECTOR members can sign up for this activity on Better Impact by clicking here.

The BARC Swap Meet is also a social event. There will be food and refreshments available for purchase and a good opportunity to reconnect with radio amateurs from all over southwestern British Columbia.

When: Sunday March 5, setup at 08:00, public entry at 10:00.
Buyer/Browser Entry Fee: $6 per person, children under 12 enter for free.
Parking: Free; limited handicapped parking is available. Arrive early!
Location: Queensborough Community Centre, 920 Ewen Ave, New Westminster, BC V3M 5C8
