Happy New Year!

On behalf of the 2019 and 2020 boards of directors, we’d like to wish all VECTOR members and their families a happy new year. It was an exciting year for VECTOR in 2019, with participation in VANSLAM and work on many ongoing projects. We hope that momentum will continue to build in 2020.

Our next members' meeting is January 8th, where we’ll be setting our priority and focuses for the year. A survey will be sent out to members by email ahead of the meeting for members to help prioritize our list of projects. A list of projects and team contacts will also be available online.

Upcoming Training & Practice Opportunities

  • Basic Amateur Radio Certification

VECTOR is running its popular Basic Amateur Radio Certificate Course starting Saturday, January 4th, 2020. Thanks to Hiroshi (VA7LET) and the volunteer instructors and examiners for all their work.

  • Table-top Activation Exercise

This 2-hour exercise will prepare you to lead a VECTOR activation. It’s your chance to get a feel for the kinds of issues and skills you need to tackle a real activation and support VEMA well. Get a feel for our available assets. Get familiar with our broader responsibilities in the abstract so you can apply wisdom in reality.
There is space for 6 people to participate in the afternoon on February 8th.

Weekly Net

The weekly net takes place at 20:00 every Wednesday on the VE7TEL repeater (VECTOR channel 2, 145.170 MHz, -0.6 MHz offset). Each week, a secondary net follows on a different frequency, providing an opportunity for amateur radio operators to test their radio with other bands and modes of operation.

The schedule for upcoming secondary net frequencies is as follows:

Date Channel Frequency Information
January 8 401 (VE7RVU) 443.725 MHz, +5 MHz offset, 88.5 Hz tone
