VECTOR's 2025 AGM Showcased a Great Year!

The VECTOR 2025 AGM was opened by Councillor Mike Klassen and Jordan Myers, City of Vancouver Public Safety Project Manager with the Film and Special Events branch (FASE); both had kind words about the work VECTOR does with the City.

Jordan Myers was very enthusiastic about VECTOR and the city-VECTOR partnership. Describing large events as “planned emergencies” and opportunities for real-world testing, he highlighted many of our joint successes. He also relayed how many of the event coordinators were pleased with the value VECTOR added. VECTOR, in turn, is grateful for the support provided by the Film and Special Events branch.
VECTOR did a lot this year. The list includes:
- Honda Celebration of Light
- Chinatown Lunar Festival
- Vaisakhi
- Main Street Car Free Day
- Monthly City of Vancouver emergency radio tests
- Amateur Radio Licensing Courses
- The Great British Columbia ShakeOut Drill
- Weekly Wednesday Night VECTOR radio net: 600 check-ins
- Repaired the Butternut HF9V Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) vertical antenna
- Field Day
- Radio demonstrations and presentations for Dunbar Earthquake Emergency Preparedness group, Good Neighbour Kitsilano group, New Westminster Amateur Radio Club
- Involvement in the BC Amateur Radio Coordination Council
- Conversations with the Abbotsford and Fraser Valley amateur radio groups
- Discussion and planning with the BCWARN team
- Continued partnerships with VEMA, VFRS, VPD, FASE, and EMCR
Plus all the behind-the-scenes logistics, coordination, and training. VECTOR members will log over 3,400 volunteer hours in 2025!
VECTOR also said goodbye to the CERV (Community Emergency Response Vehicle) bus. The former BC Hydro transit bus was donated to the Transit Museum Society (TMS). It was a full-circle moment; TMS president Bryan Larrabee was involved with originally procuring the bus for VECTOR.
Our new 2026 executive was elected. Please welcome and welcome back:

Thanks and gratitude to the 2025 executive for their work this year. And special thanks to Anthony Tai, VE7XAK, for his 5 years serving as Treasurer.
Other AGM business included the Treasurer’s report, team reports, the Board report, and bylaw amendments.
It wasn’t all business; there were door prizes for those who trekked to City Hall to attend in person! There were so many that everyone took home something. The grand prize was a $400 gift certificate from B-Fit Personal Training of North Vancouver. Other prizes included t-shirts, water bottles, playing cards, stuffies, and a 2-meter radio with power supply.
A generous door prize table!
VECTOR thanks Superintendent Kevin Bernardin, VPD, VE7TDK; Daniela Kuzmanovic, VPD; Captain Mark Baker, VFRS; Miranda Myles, VEMA; Kris Hayne, VEMA; Jason Wong, VEMA; and Lili Bouchard for their prize contributions.
VECTOR also thanks all the AGM volunteers: Alfred; Marjorie, VA7MEL; Frank, VA7FAW; Lis, VA7EVJ; and Mika, VA7MYU for their work making the 2025 AGM a success.
As we roll into the holiday season and thoughts turn to family, festivities, and food, VECTOR extends best wishes and hopes everyone gets a well-deserved break. Rest well – we have big plans for 2026.
