VECTOR's 2025 AGM Showcased a Great Year!
The VECTOR 2025 AGM was opened by Councillor Mike Klassen and Jordan Myers, City of Vancouver Public Safety Project Manager with the Film and Special Events branch (FASE); both had kind words about the work VECTOR does with the City.

Thank you to everyone who checked in on VE7RVF during the BC ShakeOut activation net, and to the folks who deployed in the evening for our radio exercise. A special thank you as well to the VECTOR members who presented at several community events this past month to share information about amateur radio and its role in a disaster.

The summer events (and sadly, also the summer weather) are done, but luckily amateur radio can be an indoor activity too! We have several smaller scale events coming up in October to support emergency preparedness and support local community and regional organizations.

An enormous thank you to everyone who helped out during VECTOR deployments at civic events these past few weeks. Multiple city partners and the EOC staff were impressed with our professionalism and crowd reports during the Celebration of Light fireworks, and have extended their appreciation and a sincere thank you to us for our support.

Thank you to everyone who came to Field Day this past weekend! Volunteers deserve an enormous thank you for helping set up, take down, organise us, and prepare food! Being back at Queen Elizabeth Park for a full weekend was good. A feedback form is circulating to the volunteers, please contribute your ideas/observations. We already have some changes for next year based on volunteer feedback.

Hard to believe that it’s June and Field Day is almost upon us, followed by a host of summer civic events! We hope you’ll be able to join us at Field Day for our summer social, and help support some of our local events in July.
Winlink to Win Week
As part of Emergency Preparedness Week and to encourage radio operators to practice their Winlink skills, VECTOR is excited to host a “Winlink to Win Week” contest.

VECTOR at Vancouver Vaisakhi 2025
On April 12th, VECTOR volunteers helped support the 46th annual Vaisakhi parade through the Punjabi Market neighbourhood in south Vancouver. Using amateur radio, volunteers along the parade route could report observations to event organizers and other first responders in the event coordination room.
