June - WUMPUS 2
Events
Exercise: To practice on-air exchanges and give your ARDF mates a signal to trace. (public health order from 2021-05-27 covering events only allows seated outdoor activities.)
Update: Cancelled 2021-06-17, check out Field Day above 50 MHz.
Check back after June 15 for updates (after next public health notice).
We redesigned this activity to give you a way to get friends and family on the air in the Field Day spirit. This will give you, as advanced operators, a chance to, hunt net control or the current player (transmitter) using ARDF techniques.
Gather on air to:
- play with your radios
- get to know other VECTOR members
- share radio with your community
How it works from home
Individual players contact the control operator at any time from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The control operator calls on you in turn. Control describes where you are and what your choices are. You make decisions till you fall in a pit or find the Wumpus.
The control operator will make very clear to you what you need to do and how to play.
While you (or anyone else you invited to play while you supervise your PTT) are transmitting, other operators collectively or individually are trying to find you and the control operator.
Once your round is done, the control operator will call another player and you can either listen or try to find the new player.
How it works in person - team patrol hide and seek
Update: Cancelled 2021-06-17, check out Field Day above 50 MHz.
Check back after June 15. Subject to public health announcements, we may choose to include an in-person element.
