May - BAKED ALASKA

Events

Exercise: To drill on transferring control between net control stations.

Take turns asking the net for trivia around a quotation.

Gather on air to:

  1. use on-air skills you may use only rarely otherwise
  2. get to know other VECTOR members
  3. get to know your gear
  4. laugh

How it works - trivia rounds to guess quote source and situation

Each person brings a few quotes (historical, literary, movie, etc) and we take turns running a “net” to see who guesses the origin, speaker, context, etc. You pass control of the “net” around using a standard protocol.

Keep passing control to each other until you reach 2 hours or have had a chance for everyone to receive and pass control 3 times.

This is a scored game where you can have a winner.

Let’s have fun together on air Saturday, May 8, challenging each other on movie and famous quotes for a couple of hours. Catch you there at 11:00?

Keep your skills fresh

We play on air to keep our skills fresh and give each other feedback on how we do. This activity exercises calling protocol and handing off net control.

We’ll rotate control of the airwaves between operators. Please bring some quotes you like. Join from home.

Operator package has answers. Download it. Read it. Print what you need.

Check-in on net at 11:00 on Saturday, May 8, 2021, on VE7RVF (output 145.450 MHz, offset -600 kHz, tone 100 Hz). Finish and check out by 13:00.

Can you make it? (RSVP)

All radio amateurs are welcome to participate in any of our nets.
