Once again VECTOR will have a for-sale table at the annual Burnaby Amateur Radio Swap Meet. This year’s event will be held Sunday March 6 at Queensborough Community Centre.

It is with great sadness that I need to inform you all on the passing of our great friend Bryan Farrar, VE7BFY.

It has been an awfully busy year.

Starting the year off with a bang VECTOR participated in the always-popular Burnaby Amateur Radio Club Annual Swap Meet… and left with far less than we arrived! Whether that is a good or bad thing is a matter of personal perspective. In 2016 BARC will hold its annual swap meet on March 6.

The VECTOR 2015 Annual General Meeting will be held on December 2nd, 2015 at 7PM at the E-Comm Centre at 3301 East Pender Street.

Attention VECTOR Members: Our 2 meter VE7VCT repeater (145.45 MHz, input -600 kHz) will be off-line until August 9th. This repeater has been operating in test mode for a couple months but as of August 9th it’ll be on the air 24/7.

Note to members:

Our 2M repeater, VE7VCT-2M, is currently off-line in order that it can be on-display at our Field Day site this weekend. Our 70CM repeater, currently operating in test mode, will also be relocated to the Field Day site. Come have a look at some of the capital investments we’ve been making this year.

May 3 to May 9 has been declared as Emergency Preparedness Week by the City of Vancouver. During this seven day period a number of events, displays, and other functions will be available to the media and public to promote emergency preparedness in our city.

The Vancouver Police Board today announced that Adam Palmer, a 28-year veteran of the department, has been selected as Chief Constable of the Vancouver Police Department. Palmer replaces retiring Chief Jim Chu.

As VECTOR members we value our ability to be prepared to provide emergency communications. Remember the first priority is not radio but your personal safety and the safety of those you care for. We can’t be helpful if we’ve not looked after our own needs and those of our family first.
